There are several operating systems for tablet PCs. Each has its own positives and downsides, which are big factors when deciding which tablet PC to purchase.

With the array of operating systems running on the tablet PCs in the market, choosing one that works for the user is a major decision to make. Many users are not aware of the differences between the several operating systems available. Knowing the pros and cons of each system will aid the decision making process. If you know the system that you are most compatible with, then choosing which brand will be easy.

Of course, Apple loyalists would say that choosing the iOS is more beneficial as it has access to the thousands of apps in the App Store. You are also assured of the regular updates that will be rolled out to all devices. However, this advantage is shrinking as the Google Store is fast becoming a developer’s playground. Many apps are free in this ecosystem compared to pricey apps in the iOS world. Android updates are also done over the air as opposed to iOS updates via iTunes.

Research is essential to finding the right OS. It would also help if the user could experience firsthand how each system works by trying out the demo units being displayed in computer shops. Sales people gladly explain the pros and cons of each. At the end of the day, the system choice depends on how the tablet PC will be used and which operating system feels comfortable.
